Editorial Notes
The list is intended as a list of coversongs, one can found in
rock music. If an entry is to be included, at least one of the entries
'Artist' and 'Original artist' have to be a rock artist, where rock means
hardrock, metal, punk, rock 'n' roll, and other related genres.
Entries included are:
- coversongs found on albums, EPs, singles, demos, etc
- live performed coversongs
Not included are:
- samples taken from a song, stolen riffs, fragments from songs etc
- re-recording of songs by the original artist
-
- remixes
- songs with the same title, but no tight relationship between them
- coverbands ie bands that only play coversongs
Comments
- [Free] means that the cover song is just generally based on the original,
but it's not an exact cover of the song, many alterations, both musically
and lyrically may be put in. In other words, it's a free interpretation.
- [Live] means that a song isn't recorded by the covering artist but *only*
performed Live. It is at the entry Album. Or when it is after an album
it means that the recording on that album is live.
- [?] means that this information is based on rumours or guessing. When it
is behind the song entry it may be that it is not a cover at all.
- Empty entries mean unknown to The Keeper.
- Anything else after a | means comments.
The entire coversongs list has recently been re-formatted to using HTML
tables. The first column consist of the artist that performs the cover
When there are more artists with the same name, the country/state
of origin is mentioned. The title of the cover song, which may be
different from the original is in the second column. If so, the original title is
mentioned between
"{" and "}". The artist who originally recorded/performed the song is listed
in the third column. Finally a list of albums on which the coversong appears, ie the album title
of the covering artist, with format, the year of release and the label
on which it appeared is listed in the fourth column. Every album entry is preceded by a space.
If the album doesn't have a title as with split albums, a description is
put between "{" and "}". Label names are abbreviated for the sake of saving
space. The key to the abbriviations is not included in this list. After
a title also may be a country name, then the release in that country is
the one with the cover on it. Everything on a line after a '|' is comments.
