Interview with Karl Willetts, taken from Deaththrasher Magazine
DT:
What topics do you consider in your lyrics?.
Karl Willetts: The lyrics of our songs tend to be around the theme of war...
this is something that has been constant in our 3 records... War is a
fascinating subject... We do not support or condone it.... Yes we are not
against it. There are many aspects of war that are features in our
lyrics.
DT: Your influences?.
Karl Willetts: We
try not to be influenced by any part band... As we try to crate our own original
sound. But we started the band we all liked sniff by SLAYER, METALLICA, VENOM,
DISCHARGE... This music is made us form our own Band.
DT: What do you think about Church & Religion?
Karl Willetts: We do not cover these topics in the band, yes on the
last up songs like Afterlife touch the subject of religion... I think that the
next up will probably have more to say on this subject. Personally I see the
church and religion as being the I most evil and dangerous institution on this
Planet!!.
DT: What do you think about CARCASS & NAPALM DEATH?.
Karl Willetts: Yes I think that CARCASS and NAPALM DEATH
are both great bands, as well as being good friends.... They both as well as us
have their own original sound and identify!! which is why we all are doing
pretty well!!
DT: Do you
believe in Anarchy like a positive change in the system?.
Karl Willetts: I
feel that anarchy would never work... It would be used by many to create a
system of fear and terror... ...our system that we have is far from perfect
but I feel that a complete change to it would be detrimental to the existence of
mankind. We can all create our own freedom through our positive thought and
attitude!!!
DT: What do you know about Peruvian Scene?.
Karl Willetts: Well I actually know very little (if anything) about the
scene in Peru!!
DT: What can you tell me about your Scene?.
Karl Willetts: There are a lot of good bands here in the ok apart
from those mentioned earlier there is PARADISE LOST, BENEDICTION, CEREBRAL FIX,
CANCER to name a few all of whom have record out... There are many very good
underground demos... ANATHEMA, BURIAL, MY DYING BRIDE, for example!! But as for
a scene there is not really a scene at all!.
DT: What do you think about Satanism?
Karl Willetts: I think its interesting.... Yet Satanism can be seen as a form of religion... Why
isnt not as offensive as Christianity there is still a belief in false
gods.
DT: What can you tell me about Punks & Skinheads?
Karl Willetts: In this country we
have very little to do with Punks and Skinheads... I fuckin' despise the
majority of political / racist non thinking skin heads... Yes I know that
there are some cool skins... (as you cannot generalize)... I remember when punk
was a great movement... with meaning and a lot happening now it seems to have
died a lives a quiet co-existence. I really don't and any people that are cool
and do not cause unecessary shit and hassle!! Unfortunately many
do!!.
DT: What can you tell me about Margaret Tatcher?.
Karl Willetts: Thatcher is now no longer our parliamentary leader she
was kicked out by her own party (Ha, Ha). She has done a lost of damage to our
country in economic terms... But what the fuck she's just another politician
they are all basically the same!!
DT: What can you tell me about North American Politicians & Mijail Gorbachov?.
Karl Willetts:
They are all just crazy fucked up politicians... Gorbachov introducing a form of
democracy to the U.S.S.R. is cool but it is not going to be easy for
him.
DT: What do you think about Black Metal?.
Karl Willetts: I'm not really into that kind of stuff... the music does
absolutely nothing for me and that image sucks!!!
DT: Your last comment for DT Readers?.
Karl Willetts: Ok
